Configuration: System Configuration

  • This document explains how to configure the New Member Workflow for your Motivation website.

  • This document explains how to configure additional options within Motivation

  • Motivation offers four ways to categorize your members (e.g. Organization, Location, etc.). Note that the second and third categories form a hierarchy: each entry in the second category holds one or more entries in the third and each third-level category must be assigned to a second-level category. This helps you organize your members when they naturally fit a hierarchy. The third and fourth categories are optional. The first and second depend on your service license.

  • This document will explain how to configure what features appear on the participant's home page

  • This document explains how to manage Organizations for your Motivation site. To be able to add Organizations, your site must be licensed to allow multiple organizations.

  • This document explains how to manage Locations for your Motivation site. To be able to add Locations, your site must be licensed to allow multiple locations.

  • This document explains how to manage Units for your Motivation site. Units are an example of the optional third and fourth categories (See the "Categorization Label and Use" Please note that each entry in the second category (Location) holds one or more entries in the third and each third-level category must be assigned to a second-level category. This helps you organize your members when they naturally fit a hierarchy.

  • This document explains how to manage program groups for your Motivation site. Program groups are your wellness/fitness related groups such as Personal Training, Weight Management, Nutrition etc.

  • This section will explain how to create new activity log activities, and also how to modify/edit existing activities

Configuration: Incentive

  • With the Motivation bank account style incentive program participants collect points over time and can spend them on any of a number of incentive prizes.
Participants can earn points for any or all of:
    • Entries in the activity log
    • Entries in the pedometer log
    • Entries in the weight log
    • Enrollment in a Team Lean Challenge
    • Taking an HRA
    • Checking in at your facility
    • Entries in a custom log (e.g. 1 point per minute of walking)
    • Selecting an item that you have added to the “Earn Wellness Points” list.
The last item, in particular, lets you offer rewards for essentially any kind of behavior that you wish to encourage (e.g. “I ate 5 servings of fruit and vegetables today). This is particularly useful in wellness programs where you do not wish to only reward the already typically active participants but want to make people think about the entire range of health promoting behaviors that they may be able to implement.

Configuration: Team Lean Challenge

  • The Team Lean Challenge (TLC) is a program to promote and support weight loss for healthy living. TLC is based on the recognition that weight loss and behavior change requires a concerted effort and is much more likely to be successful with the support of a team. The idea behind this challenge is very simple: Motivation will track the body weight of all of the participants in the Team Lean Challenge both individually and in teams. At the end of the competition, the team with the greatest average percentage weight lost wins! Participants can register/enroll on-line for the program using Motivation. Throughout the competition, participants have access to a "Team Page" where they can see personal progress as well as the team standings. In addition, there is a team message board and logging capabilities. There are numerous resources to support their weight loss efforts in addition to a targeted bulk email capability that allows the administrator to communicate with all of the TLC participants.

Configuration: Custom Logs

  • Staff members have the ability to create custom logs. A custom log is defined by the name of the log (e.g. “The 1000•Minute Club”, “Glucose Log”), the units of measurement (e.g. minutes or miles, mg/dl), a Web page featuring a description of the program (“Walk, run or jog each day to collect points toward a prize”) and a mapping from the number of units completed to the number of points earned in the incentive program if applicable (e.g. 1 point per minute). Note that the web page describing the program is entered using Motivation’s built in word processor so the person creating the program does not need any particular training in how to build web pages: it is as simple as using a word processor.
