Participant Fitness Assessment

This section will explain how to carry out participant fitness assessments using Motivation. These directions assume that you have already selected the participant you wish to work with. (See section titled "Selecting a Participant" for assistance.)

Assessments: Fitness Assessment

1. You will see the name of your selected participant displayed at the top of the page.
2. Click the "Assessments" link.
3. Click on "Fitness Assessments" from the drop down menu.

Fitness and Functional Assessment

1. If there are no previous assessments for an individual this area will be blank (as above). If there are any previous assessments they will be shown here in a graphical format (bar chart).
2. To input a new assessment for this participant, click the "New Assessment" link.

Inputting your Assessment data

1. The assessment protocol can be changed by clicking on the down arrow, and selecting one of the other protocols that are listed.
2. The assessment date defaults to today's date. You can change this to the date that the assessment was taken, if different from today's date.
3. Weight is listed even though it is not part of the assessment protocol. The reason for this is that most norm calculations need a value for weight, so we force you to enter it here. (120 is a default value, just over type this value with the participant's correct weight.)
4. Enter the results for each test in your protocol.
5, Click the 'Blood Pressure' link if you wish to enter blood pressure values that you have collected. (These can also be entered later from the "Assessments" link which appears at the top of the page.)
6. The "Assessments Note" link allows you to enter any notes that you may have concerning the participant's assessment.
7. Click the "Submit" button to save your assessment entries.

Fitness Assessment Results

The assessment results will be displayed in both as a table, and also as a bar chart.
1. If you wish to make any changes to the assessment, or even to delete it, click on the "Change / Delete" link.

Change / Delete an Existing Assessment

1. To change a previous assessment (Protocol). Click on the Protocol name.
2. To delete an assessment click on the "Delete" link. You will be asked to confirm the deletion.

Entering Assessment Goals

Motivation will allow you to create assessment goals for each of the assessment tests that the participant has completed.

The Assessment Goals page allows you to enter goal values for each test in the participant's assessment protocol.
1. The fitness test that you are going to be creating a goal for. (Although weight is not part of the protocol, you are able to create a goal weight.)
2. The current value/score that the participant has achieved for this particular test.
3. Enter here the Goal value.
4. Instead of enter a value in the Goal value field, you can click the 5% improvement button (This will either reduce or increase the goal value depending on if the higher or lower vales are better.)
5. Instead of enter a value in the Goal value field, you can click the 10% improvement button (This will either reduce or increase the goal value depending on if the higher or lower vales are better.)
6. Click the "Submit" button to save your entry.
You will repeat this process for each test in your protocol, until each test has a goal value entered.

Printing the Results Report

Now that we have completed the assessment and entered our assessment goals, we can now run the Fitness Assessment Results Report. Click on the "Results Report" link.

Assessment Results Report

The Assessment Results Report prints as a PDF report. Although you can print this report, or save the report on to your hard drive, there is no need. The participant will be able to view their results (the Assessment Results Report) by clicking the "Fitness Testing Results" link on their home page. (See the Participant Home Page example below.)
The Fitness Assessment Summary score is calculated from the results of all the tests in the assessment protocol. In the above example you can see that there are 5 different tests (remember weight is not part of the protocol), therefore, each test score will count 20% towards the assessment summary score. (If there were only 4 tests then each would count 25% towards the assessment summary score.)
